Couple things, the stone filters  are spirng loaded, and can plug up 
letting crud through.   What you are referring to is the jet.   Pull the 
venturi cluster and make sure stuff has not gotten in there as well. 
Also check the vacuum balance tube hoses for leaks while the carbs are 
off!
