I've got plenty of vices and arcanely peculiar tastes, and I sure enjoy looking at fine and not-so-fine examples of interesting cars.  But I find that auction show non-entertaining, distasteful or even offensive.   When co-workers and acquaintences discuss buying things and the price is mentioned among the attributes in a way that makes a big number a cause for envy, or a definition of goodness or quality or definition of ability to bring joy or outright supercede real functionality or style it just about makes my skin crawl.  I also quietly walk out of the room when my family is watching American Idol, Jerry springer, Judge Whatever, Geraldo, or crank yankers, and I change radio stations when they make those cruel gotch prank phone calls using info volunteered by the victim's loved ones.
