Had I known then what I know now ... the plane would be 'Vair powered. 
As it is, it's another auto conversion - a Subaru EA-81.  Flat 4, water
pumper.  I chose it primarily because I wanted to have good cabin heat
during Michigan winters.  The oil cooler for a 'Vair might do almost as
well.  Maybe for the next plane engine.
