Smitty says: I was going to do some lifter work on the wagon this morning and wanted to warm the oil up before I pulled a valve cover. Started the engine and it made an awful banging like as though it was a spun bearing. By the time I got to the back and got the lid open it was not making so much noise. After I listened top and bottom to determine where it was coming from it was quiet. (how many of you are already making mental bets)? Pulled the air cleaners and noted fuel spits coming from the left carb and a slight pulsing noise. (are the odds changing)? Pulled the plugs on that side and # 6 had fresh tiny aluminum particles on the # 6 ground electrode. (Made up your mind yet)? Decided to do a compression test and a leakdown. Compression on # 2 and 4 were 132. # 6 was inconclusive as there was no compression to read. (how's the betting going)? I decided not to run a leakdown test or even lower my little inspection light into the spark plug hole. Is there
anybody that doesn't know why by now? Sympathy will be accepted in small doses.
