Thought I'd chime in here with some advance info on NECC's plans for the coming year. Please note that we are still working out details but here's our plan.
1. Time Trials at Willow Springs (Streets of Willow course) Sunday before the CORSA convention.
2. A three day event ( we need a catchy name for this!) in the Indianapolis area
a. Thursday July 31st Time Trials at Putnam Park
b. Friday August 1st drag racing at Muncie Dragway
c. Saturday August 2nd Autocross at Grissom Air Force Base and if we can pull it of a concurrent car show that day.
The plan is to have a host hotel in Indianapolis area and commute each day. Looks like the biggest distance to any of the events would be approximately 60 miles.
3. We are also looking at a late summer/early fall time trials at either beaveRun or Summit Point with the Point being our first choice.
More details soon!!!

?? Thanks Spence,
??? I plan to run the smaller "Roadster" much more and tow it behind Sharon's minivan on a
open single axle trailer for longer events; such as the Caifornia convention. Purely an economics decision.I am up grading the brakes on the EM car just for the track event.?
??? Maybe Terry?Kalp and I will get to run together in Specialty class.
????The Stinger will likely only see the NECC track event.?
??? I doubt that the Thomas/Roe car will see much action--simply can't afford?It needs a RICH?
owner.

Thanks to Spence for getting the racing thread going.

Thanks to Spence for getting the racing thread going.
I too am itching to stomp the loud pedal.
My interest at the this time is to get an SCCA Time Trial license. Also I want
to run as many of the track events as I can.
I was on my way earlier this year but my old truck let me down for the last
time so it has been replaced with a newer tow vehicle.
(check my site if you want to see it at www.corvairalley.com )
After perusing the 2008 SEDIV (South East Division of SCCA )
http://www.sedivracing.org/ schedule I found a TT school where you can obtain a
license in one week end. Normally you would have to run three Time Trial events
as a novice to get your full Time Trial ticket.
The event is at the Talladega GP Raceway. As the name implies it's in Alabama
close to Birmingham. The track was designed primarily as a motorcycle track with
cars and karts as an also ran. I am planning to do this.
I have gone so far as to roll over a weeks vacation to have some extra time
next year for these activities. Of course as Spence stated, money is a big
factor especially with fuel prices at an all time high. Like Spence also said
"we ain't gettin any younger" so it's now or never here too.
Hey, maybe we should start our own group called "The Flyin Old Farts" and ya
gotta be past 60 to join! Isn't 60 the new 40??
As for my car, the #36 Sunoco Corvair Stinger clone there is not a lot to do.
(Huh?) However, since I now have filled the vacant parking spot formally
occupied by my V8 Vair here at Corvair Alley with a 67 ragtop the "dual purpose"
S/A/T car might become more of a "race" car. Keepin the engine stock at this
point!
Let's see...Lexan rear window...remove side glass...window
