<VV> Diff Still Blowing Lub Out Vent

[shortle]

Anyone know the reason GM installed the baffle I am referring to? It seems like a very worthwhile addition to reduce leaks. Or was it for the pinion bearing lubrication? 
Anyone know what I am referring to?
