<VV> valves/clicking- bad locknuts

YES.
   
  The locknuts only lock for so many "cycles" and then they dont "lock" anymore.  I have had this happen on several engines over the years, most recently on my Greenbrier where I had one noisy lifter even after adjusting it 3 times.  Had a set of new locknuts in the parts box and replacing the nut solved the problem, it was simply backing off after some driving.  I later replaced all of the others on that side when I had it open to replace a broken rocker on another cylinder.  New ones arent too expensive.
