Two off-list replies both strongly recommended Meguiars #40 for
restoring and protecting the vinyl; one also recommended Meguiars #39
for initial cleaning.

Found that these products are sold under Meguiars professional brand
name (Mirror Glaze).  Meguiars web site helped me find a local paint
shop that carried them.
