To whomever was on the 'Net on this subject and brought up the subject of  
iris-type dampers--Look up Continental Fan Company--as well as having blower  
wheels, they have iris-type dampers made for HVAC ductwork--they even have a  
built-in setup for airflow measurement.  Interesting way of controlling the  air 
into the engine;  Maybe 2 wheels on a common shaft running fore-and-aft  over 
the engine with an ordinary belt drive or an electric motor--one wheel  
discharging into a plenum serving each bank of cylinders---didn't one of GM's  
dream cars use something like this??
