The splash page warms my heart every time I see it 'cause the red '65
Greenbrier featured on the page was rescued and restored by me.
The '65 Deluxe GB was a "barn find" from a large collection in Connell, WA.
A doctor had purchased the fully loaded (as much as you could with a GB) '65
110 Deluxe new and it never ran correctly - apparently the problem was
overheating. It was rebuilt twice (dealer receipts) and they finally gave up
in the late 70's. When I bought it and got it running (roughly the winter
of 2001 or 2002) the overheating was readily apparent since it was running
hot after a few miles at an ambient temperature of 21F. The heads were
almost completely blocked with casting flash. I cleared that out and it ran
like a champ. One odd thing: the wheel bearing grease was hard as a rock -
like crazed plastic glass. Another car from the same barn (my '67 Sedan)
was stored for at least five more years (since '72-3)and the wheel bearing
grease was like new. The GB was fully documented including the
protect-o-plate. It is a treasure and I'm delighted to see it every time I
log onto the CORSA site.
