I had one of my cars that continually had the same type of problem as
you're discribing, so I put an inline fuel filter on and so far have had no
more problems.  Including a trip to Detroit.  It seemed to always have
little specs of dirt on the stones when I removed them and the tank had
been cleaned out not too long ago, so something must have remained in the
tank.  Ken

Been having a problem with my 65 vert today in that it idles well enough

on order from Clark's and plan to install them this weekend. Just curious
if 
anyone has changed the "stones" and if it helped. My gut is that the
problem 
is fuel related and not ignition, but some of you guys may know better than 
me. Any advice on the stones and the problem in general would be greatly 
appreciated. Thanks!

By the way, I posted a while back about overheating. I did as many
suggested 
and knocked the timing back a bit, cleaned under the shroud (although not 
much in there), cleaned out the oil cooler (very dirty), and removed the 
lower shrouds. Happy to report, no more overheating. No just this pesky 
power loss issue, which I am hopeful will turn out to be minor. Thanks
again 
for all your help!
