Some of us are old enough to remember when EELCO sold them new. Yes they  
were Aluminum. I have never run them on a car, but I have seen them and  they 
were indeed exhaust manifolds. I believe Pontiac used some cast aluminum  exhaust 
manifolds on some of their "Super-Duty" drag cars in the early 60's.  Perhaps 
Drag racng never put enough heat in for a long enough time to cause melt  
down. - Seth
