Since running without the lower shrouds is akin to running without 
thermostats, did you ever run your 60 without the fan "ring"?  If so, 
what was the result?

I seem to recall not a few years ago, one was looked upon as uncouth for 
blocking the cooling doors open, but the 'removing the lower shrouds' 
thing seems to be more stylish and is now somewhat acceptable -- why the 
difference / change in attitude about thermostat bypass?
