A long way from Charleston, SC... Appomattox is NNE of VIR, Seth... roughly 
due west of Richmond..and the M-D line is on the Northern Border of MD.. 
So, over  400 mi to Charleston, SC and a bit over 200 to M-D line.... as the 
crow flies.... :>))))))
