Another way to do the same thing is to drill/cut a hole in the rear of the
front wheel well/front of the rockers about 5/8" (check on other LM's for
size, as most have a hole there with a rubber plug in it and after cleaning,
plug it.Use the coat hangar to dislodge as much as you can on the back side
of the door pillar, too. To clean, a coat hangar, a shop vac at both rocker
panel ends, and then water to wash all the crud down to square hole on
inside of rear rocker panel just in front of rear wheel well. There used to
be a square rubber flap over that rear inner rocker hole. Use the coat
hangar to fish out the crud and get the whole thing clean. Dry in sun.
Preventative steps include spraying a rust preventive down the rocker panels
and behind the door pillars. Ned's gluing fiberglass screening to underside
of cowl vent is very helpful, ONCE the areas are clean.
Clark, you might want to find a cover for that hole as you will have quite a
bit of air pressure coming in there with all the associated dirt thru the
vents. Wait until it rains!~ LOL!
