That is a Corvair "Saginaw" transmission, cast on December 22, 1965.  
 
If there is a relatively large plugged hole (5/8" or so) on the bottom near  
the shifter, the trans is a 4-speed.  If there's an undrilled boss on the  
bottom near the shifter, it's a 3-speed.
 
I'm shocked by the number of way-off answers to this one!  
 
I verified the casting number from an actual '66 Saginaw 4-speed sitting on  
my shelf.
