When drilling a hole through a painted surface that you really don't want to scratch, like when attaching a new set of wheel well trim or outside rear view mirrors, etc, one can use a small piece of masking or duct tape to provide a non-slip centering point -- also helps prevent paint chipping around edge of hole ,,, Bill
