Subject: <VV> Not really enjoying VV anymore
I am about ready to join the legions flocking away from Virtual Vairs. The
flame wars, endless griping about the Communique, debates about the merits
of dial-up vs. DSL are wearing me down. I posted something positive in an
effort to help change the tone yesterday. I was not looking for any
particular response except that perhaps to help move the discussion back to
positive things about driving, owning and working on Corvairs. But we can't
be distracted from the important business of the ongoing war; except for a
nice off-list response from Connie I may have well have said nothing at all.
When I came to Virtual Vairs, this was a friendly, helpful place. I don't
think I could have gotten through a couple of big projects without the help
of VV, and I have been a loyal supporter ever since. But when the
conversation gets nasty and off topic, good people are driven away. I hate
to leave because I like this format. It gives me the opportunity to read
about topics I might have skipped on a forum. But its greatest virtue is
also its greatest vice. EVERYBODY GETS EVERY MESSAGE. So every time you
post a message, think of yourself as standing at a podium in a room of 700
people (well, maybe 200 just walked out thanks to some of the other
speakers). Do you want to start a running argument with the guy in the 32nd
row? Do you think the other 499 people in the room want to hear that?
Let's talk about Corvairs instead.
