No, there is no cure. You are screwed. You have IT; the dreaded Covairitis.
There are five known versions of Corvairitis. An early symptom is a fever,
followed by delusional thoughts, such as acquiring additional cars of the
late or early persuasion, depending on which symptom is dominant. Second,
lusting after an early model when first enamored by a late model. Another
form of this disease manifests in the reverse; having early models and then
thinking that a late model is fascinating... The Fourth known version of it
is the tendency to buy an FC which has its own quirks, not the least of
which is the feeling of floating while driving. Finally, and perhaps the
deadliest version is the desire to acquire an Ultravan. This aversion is to
be avoided if possible. The easiest solution/treatment is to "go with it" .
Turns out, you can live a pretty long life having Corvairitis, meeting
wonderful people of all personalities, some knowledgeable, some not, and
some who just think they are, and participate on either or both sides of the
Early vs. Late discussions; talk out of both sides of your mouth, as it
were...
LOL!

Late Corvairs were one of the first cars I learned to recognize (keep in
mind I'm only 26), and I always thought they were neat. Back in 2001 I
bought a 66' Monza 110 and loved it... I've owned two more late models since
and I've always thought the earlies were... wierd looking.
Recently I've caught my eyes lingering on early coupes and verts.....
and thinking.. you know some of them are kinda nice. What's worse the lates
are starting to look a tad bit bland by comparison. Now I was sure this was
just a passing fascination... or that I was running a fever (come to think
of it I have had a fever the past week), but today I called my girlfriend
from work and encouraged her to go take a look at a nice early coupe I found
for sale next weekend if we get her yellow Fiero Formula sold at Carlisle on
Thursday or Friday...
What is happening to me? Has anyone else experienced these strange
symptoms? Is there a cure?
