Thanks to the observations of 16 year old MCCA member Alex Moats, I had to take a closer look at my '66 Corsa. The engine code was correct and it was an AC car, however the VIN was for a Monza. Alex was looking at the car when I had it at the Club meeting last Saturday and told me the VIN and body tag did not match . . . the body tag was for a Los Angles car and the VIN for Willow Run. I had always assumed that the Corsa drivetrain had been transfered to a Monza Body.
Looking closer at the body tag it was correct for a '66 Corsa with Factory Air Accessory code E2E . . . . hmmm. The VIN rivits don't look stock, so there is a good chance that this is the original body re VINed.
Now to the questions. Did all the AC Corsas come from Los Angles and did California Factory Air cars come with A.I.R. (smog) pumps or were they exempt in '66?
Thanks,
Terry Kalp
