I always grease the bearing while the engine is warmed-up and running.  This
condition improves the distribution of grease.  Simply invert the car and
stand (yourself) on a lazy susan.  Lightly grab the fan until speeds have
equalized.  Connect the grease gun and add grease 'till just before the
first sign of resistance. This procedure is not advised for those with long
hair or a propensity for vertigo.
