I had planned to install some new rear suspension bushings today, but when I 
tried to remove the backing plates from the bearing blocks on the 1965 
convertible, I found that they were welded together (with a single bead on one side)! 
Anyone care to hazard a guess as to why someone might want to do that (other 
than to p.o. any future owner of the car)? It certainly changes the procedure 
to change the bushings...
