I think I've been breathing too much carb cleaner!
Here is the background, I just rebuilt the carbs on my
66 140, the car is running great, being as I had never
done this before I just paid attention to what I
pulled off/out of the carbs and put new stuff back in
and made sure I replaced everything I took off/out.
So feeling good about myself I decided I needed to
rebuild the ones on my 65 110, I pulled them off and
noticed this, my 65 carbs have the rubber vent valve
at the base, my 66 did not, my 65 has power enrichment
needles, my 66 did not. So what are the carbs on my
66, am I just missing stuff or are they from another
year? Is there a visual way to tell what I have? I
should say that it is possible that the power
enrichment valves were stuck down in the carb and I
just didn't notice (however I cleaned them pretty darn
good and blew them out with compressed air). I guess
it is possible that the previous owner left the
needles out. Would the car run okay with out the
needles, because it is running great now?
