Yes, Charles - I agree.... WARM enough to burn your car to the ground in 
some cases.

Someone suggested the heater hose against the starter solenoid and THAT 
could very well be the cause in this case.  If so... more than one Vair has 
met it's permanent demise with that as the cause.  Just think about that 
nice red (like your toaster) wire running through that 3 or 4 feet of 
plastic.  Makes you want to run to the garage RIGHT NOW and make sure 
nothing is touching in that area.  PS... be sure to use proper jacking 
techniques.  Oh - you might want to look before it goes onto the jack 
stands.

Anyway, we don't know what non-stock options may have been added and it is 
possibly something like a memory type device gone haywire and not wired 
through the fuse panel.

Now I'm rambling, but (stock) a couple other areas to look at are rust at 
the base of the dimmer switch creating an unintentional ground/short - 
and/or backup or brake lights staying on (un-noticed).
