It's different if it's applied by a robotic arm dispensing a controlled
bead... This early '60's design T.C. cover I did was supposed to have a
gasket, but the "owner" was convinced the "gasket eliminator" RTV was
the easy way out. WRONG!

Funny...every "factory original" GM product starting with '78's, uses
RTV
unless there's an "O-ring".....maybe just a west coast thing?
