I also can verify many tankfulls at 55-65-ish MPH getting 28+ mpg with
110/Powerglide/3.55 with a/c on (33-35 MPG Imperial) with a variety of
Corvairs, 140's seem to never get past 23-24 (27-28 Imperial) in my
experience though,

This is on 1970's-1980's fuels, I would expect them to drop ~15% in areas
using heavily oxygenated fuels today.

I am convinced Powerglides are easier on gas than manual transmission
Corvairs, I attribute this to lower losses keeping the clutch engaged than
stirring the 80W.
