<VV> Weather stripping

I began taping off the track for the engine lid weather stripping on 
the hardtop.  I have the track free of debris from the old weather 
stripping.  The only thing I know to do is to paint the areas that had 
paint scraped off in the process with Rustoleum primer.  I have taped 
it so as to minimize the amount of primer that will show after 
replacing the stripping.  I still don't know what to do about the hole 
in the track on the left side right above the rear lights.  There is a 
corresponding hole on the right side which has what appears to be 
material from the original stripping.  Perhaps they were used to press 
a connector on the original stripping through in order to secure it.
