I had only the requisite lap-belt, nothing else, so I bent the steering wheel with my nose, otherwise I can attribute my survival solely on the Corvair's built-in safety features.
The rear seat cushion came loose and clipped the back of my head on its way past, which would not have happened if a shoulder belt were available, and the seat back had blocked the rear cushion.
I'm sold on the Corvair safety, but even more on its ability to avoid the accident.
If I had only been paying attention to the road, I'd have avoided it for sure.

  Amen to every word, Charles!!

With my three-point seat belts and high-backed bucket seat installed, I walked away with rash across my chest from my seat belt, a sore neck (for about a week), and I bit my lip (Dang!). I'd say the crush area did it's job quite nicely.
