Quality is the all important parameter. Do you simple want it stripped
and painted, or do you want it skimmed and extensively block sanded so
the body is laser straight? How about door jams, underside of trunk lid
and engine cover? In this part of the country (Minnesota/Wisconsin),
based on a current estimate and the work I'm having down, the latter
will run around $8K -- this is at a shop rate of $49 per hour, but the
guy is super meticulous (does Ferraris', Cobras, etc. However, based on
other sources, $7-8K is not unreasonable for a top-notch repaint here in
the midwest.

Subject: <VV> Body, Paint & Interior Prices
Hi All,
I swore I'd never restore a car again; however, I just can't seem to
find the car I want (64 Spyder Convertible). I have an opportunity to
pick up a very solid 64 Spyder convertible for practically nothing. The
car does not have any rust or body damage; in fact, it still has its
original paint. What I need is prices for what anyone paid recently to
have their early convertible stripped and painted. Please reply with
examples of recent jobs, not five or ten year old jobs. Please include
where the work was done, your satisfaction with the job and any contact
information. I live in Jacksonville FL and don't mind traveling a bit.
Along the same lines, I need the same for complete interior work,
including the top. Any info would be greatly appreciated so I can
decide to go through with restoring this car or keep searching.
Thanks in advance!
Rich
