At the huge risk of starting a non Corvair thread that will wear out delete
keys. If the ads bug you, don't read them. How's that for a simple answer ?
He's a great guy, I met him in Flagstaff as well. He's probably the only
paying customer in the ads section any more, I think the other simple thing
is, his ads may be made to get your attention and it works.

Clark, and all the other guys in VV land who question Charlie of Phoenixs'
sanity.
This subject comes up once a year or so.
20 years ago, when I first started reading Charlie's ads, I too thought he
wasn't all there, so to speak.
I found out that Charlie pays for his ads, he's a valuable advertising
client of our magazine, and no way are Mike and Harry ever gonna turn down
someone who pays to put in ads every month, and has for seemingly forever.
In 1992 I met Charlie at Flagstaff. I now feel priviliged to say that I've
met him, and felt like he'd been my friend for years after the first 5
minutes I spoke to him.
Is Charlie eccentric?---in the same vein that all Corvair enthusiasts are,
YES. To a greater degree than the average Corviar enthusiast?---well, that
can be argued. But the man is the salt of the earth, one of those "most
unforgettable characters you'll ever meet", and he gave me some damn fine
deals on Corvair Parts.
I spent at least an hour and a half sitting with him and talking Corvairs,
and the pleasure it was to be in his company is hard to express, even for
someone like myself, who is rarely at a loss for words. He's a pistol, and
I got a big charge out of meeting him and spending some time conversing with
him.
It is said "don't judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes"---I
won't preach to ya Clark, as you're older and wiser than I. But as it
regards Charlie of Phoenix, Just don't judge him until you get a chance to
meet him. I can assure you that you'll be pleasantly pleased and surprised.
Regards
Hank
