Todd, 
When faced with a problem like that, I always make sure that the bolts will 
go in all the way without bottoming before I attach any components. I am 
concerned that if I install an overlong bolt and try to force it to bottom, It may 
crack the surrounding metal or possibly screw-up the threads.
