<VV> early conv. top hydraulics / (humor?)

I thought it was an electric motor, a coaxial shaft to each side with gears 
attached to the top frame ?
Been a while, (all my cars are coupes lately, sooooo.... )
Any diagrams to refresh my memory, so if I ever get a cherished convert, 
I'll know how to fix it ?
