I'm with Bill here.
For total peace of mind I ALWAYS install a new tank. For no more than a new
one costs it is worth it to me. I also use the kit from Clarks to seal the
inside and I coat the outside. I replace the straps and bolts with new
stainless steel ones and I replace all the rubber hose and clamps from tank
filler neck to the engine.
Also if I can, I replace the fuel line as it is often overlooked. Blowing it
out will not remove the rust that occurs here nor prevent it from coming
back. Once all this is done you should never have to worry about it in your
life time.
Do it right the first time...err am I allowed to say that?
