Uploaded some shots of the 0.020 over Corvair turbo engine I am building
for my 2nd Corsa car.( other than Northstar)
This engine uses 140 heads modified and prepared by Ray Sedman. These were
shown at this years Racers reunion in Ohio. Compression is 8.5 to one and
used with custom forged pistons with "top fuel" coating for skuff
resistance and lower frictin. Squish is set to 0.032 and is used with
low interia, ball bearing turbo supplied by Garrett.( GT28RS) Ignition is
direct fire using LSI coils driven by a FAST electronic distributor.
Custom sensor replaces distributor to get cam signal. Safeguard by J&S
(available from Ray S) is used for closed loop knock control.

Old 140 heads are milled to remove built in intake and tubes welded on for
coupling to twin plenums whose volume on ea side has been designed for
3500 rpm torque rise. Production crossover is used with end chopped off
and a quick connect marmand flange is added. 304 stainless tubing was
fabbed to a new turbine inlet moved inboard from stock position to clear
the passenger side plenum. Injector holders from SDS hold LS1 11mm
injectors. ECM is wide band, closed loop a/f control and idle control.

Note the pushrod tubes which have been double treated to prevent heat from
exhaust tubes heating the oil. First, a thin layer of ceramic insulation
coating from TechLine was sprayed and cured in oven on the tubes. Second,
a new thin material we use on C6R racecar on the brake calipers to prevent
heat from radiating into the caliper is used on top 1/2 of pr tube. It is
a 0.030 thick gold type adhesive foil which has worked very well on the
race car brakes.
