I don't see any reason for a flame war.  You and Russ both make excellent
points.  
As a relative newcomer to this hobby, I have to say that there have been
many times
when I wish I had never seen my car.  I do almost all my own work, except
for machine 
shop services.  Still, there were times when I could have almost been
persuaded to give the 
car away.  But, that first long drive after nearly a year of sweat, blood
and tears made it all
worthwhile.  I really enjoy the company of the local club, the excitement of
the national conventions
and when I finally get it painted and start taking it to the local shows and
cruise-ins, I am sure 
I will appreciate it all the more.   But, it is not as simple to work on as
I remembered from my
youth.
