I say go with the portable garage. Almost noplace except heavily
citified would have a building/zoning ordinance against one of the
tent garages because they are not permanent structures. They may get
you on some other kind of ordinance (nuisance or?) but I doubt it.
I bought one at Sam's club 5 years ago for 300 bucks. We live in an
area that can have high winds so I set the bases of the poles in
cement -- by first using a piece of PVC pipe that slipped over the
pole, bolting the pole to it, and sinking the PVC in to the
cement. Still not permanent :-) I also took self tapping screws and
ran them through all the joints so it would not fall apart.
After 5 years it is just starting to have some problems with
tears. Probably only last a few more years, but it was well worth the money.
I'd say go for it!
