Let's see: a '65 500 4-door in Cameo Beige w/ fawn
interior (saddle N/A on the 500s), and you're
switching the door panels to white. Yeah, I'd change
the exterior color, too. No disrespect, but it is a
500, so keeping it pure stock (and original color)
shouldn't make a huge difference in the value of the
car.
Personally, I think dark colors on a 500 just
emphasize the car's "cheapy-stripper" status, assuming
you're not willing to dress up the exterior with Monza
chrome trim. (If you did add chrome drip rails and
wheel-lip moldings, then I would consider navy blue.)
For me, there's only one color for this car: white.
Not pure white, but not ivory, either. Go to your
local BMW dealer and check out their Alpine White;
just enough ivory to make for a very rich-looking
exterior. If you don't have 'em already, I'd make
sure the car gets the Monza wheel covers (they were an
option on the '65s) and whitewalls. The white
exterior, with the fawn/ white interior, would be
quite sharp.
