It's also...

(wait for it)

A Subaru battery.

On the '60 Monza I use a whittled carb cleaner cap, notched so as to
clear the cable, no worries. On the '60 4-door it wasn't necessary
since I managed to turn up an oddball import style battery that is
slightly shorter than the 51 and still manages to fit in the '60
battery box. I did have to cobble up a hold-down for it. It's
pretty old these days, been in the car a long time, about 6 years
now, so when it goes I'll have to go with a 51 and whittle another
cap, I guess, since the battery in the 4-door now (can NOT recall the
group number) has been discontinued, according to the guys at Advance.

No problem... the 51 is gonna be around for a while yet. Hey, if
all else fails, and you can stomach the price (absolutely outrageous)
you can use a Miata battery... which is pretty much a lawn and
garden tractor battery with posts instead of lugs... that costs over
4 times what the lawn and garden variant costs.

tony..
