The only reason to know that - is for the time you are installing the  
distributor. How many thousands of distributors have been installed 180  (dist) 
degrees out, because the piston for #1 was at TDC, and no other  reference was 
checked? Pop/Bang.  Then to be pulled out and re-installed,  of course. - Seth
