I would think the Backfiring is indicative of WATER in the carbs! Try some Gas treatment in the tank! [ 2-3 bottles of the cheap stuff...] Dieseling is normally caused by too high an idle speed....too rich idle mixture..... Matt Nall stocker, mod, v8, turbo, boat, Sandcar ALLVAIR! Timogen was a softy!
