<VV> Cleaning black vinyl and rubberized trim (no Corvair)

98 Sebring w/ black trim around windows. Door window trim appears rubber ized with flap against outer glass. Other trim is more like vinyl.  What do I use to remove  the"corrosion-oxidation.. and make it black and smooth?

Tried Simple Green, Windex, wax, rubbing compound, lighter fluid, gasoline, WD40, Greased Lightning, and Fantastik Orange.  All seem like they are a lubricant to rubbing hard which takes some of it off.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to clean it?
