<VV> bleeding a master cylinder

I've been bench bleeding my dual master cylinder, and I think I did it right
but I'm not sure. I kept pumping until there were no air bubbles in the
fliud into which I was pumping, and then I put plugs in the outlets. Now
when I try to pump the cylinder, I get about 1/8" movement (as it should
be), but here's the strange thing: I get a little "geyser" of fluid
shooting up through the small hole in the reservoir further from me, but
this doesn't happen in the nearer reservoir. I'm always suspicious when two
seemingly identical components don't function the same way. Anybody out
there know what's going on?

Thanks,
