Corsa arrived today (for them's what counts such) and noticed that Mark
Corbin's "Quest for a Tele Column" article mentioned the difficulty of
getting comfortable in a stock seat.
I always have preferred a reclining position even before reclining seats
were available and have modified my 66 just like my 65 Corsa and 70 GS back
in the day.
First I remove the two plastic stops on the seat base and replace the
philips screws to provide a stop. This tilts the seat back slightly with
relation to the base. Then I add two 1/2" shoulder nuts (about 5/8" tall)
under the front seat flanges. This requires longer bolts to get proper
engagement.
That plus the Grant 1760 wheel (plug) which is an inch smaller diameter and
about 2" less dish than stock (must be about the same as the sport wheel
since the telescopic turn signal lever fits nicely) and a steering column
lowered about 1/2 inch makes for a comfortable position. The full effect
is enough that I can drive for an hour or more (haven't been over 100 miles
from home yet) comfortably.
