Food for thought!
List of some sizes that'll meet or closely meet stock rolling diameter:
215/60-15
225/60-15
255/50-15
205/55-16
225/50-16
245/45-16
205/50-17
215/45-17
245/40-17
215/40-18
245/35-18
Just a few examples, but these are modern sizes that are readily available,
often at reasonable prices, especially the 15 and 16 inch sizes. Even 17s are
becoming so commonplace that their prices have come way down. Also, given the
availability of wheels in these sizes is better, all the more reason.
Especially since BMW wheels come in all sorts of sizes, and CHEAP used! Seth sent
us some time ago the following info on someone who can remachine BMW and other
wheels that are very close, for cheap, something like $15 per wheel:
The company is:
Russell Machine
18320 S. Western Ave.
Gardena, CA 90248
(310) 532-5520
They supplied the inserts and corrected the 5 on 120 pattern to a 5 on
120.65mm (4.75") Chevy pattern. That is a very small correction, of course. Bigger
corrections might cost more, and some wheels may not be capable of having
the pattern changed. The wheels he did for me were "TSW Hockenheim R" in15 x
7". I also picked up (elsewhere) some rings that would center the slightly
larger wheels onto the Corvair hub. I haven't installed those, however.

Hokay so did the rite thing. Went up in the front attic and found the other
15x7s, took the 215s back off the 15x8s and put on 15x7s. Inflated easily.
&" is also in spec for 215/65. So have the back of the Monza covered though
mot as much of a gear reduction as hoped - are only about 2" taller than
the 185x80x13s on there now so less than a 10% reduction.
Still I had them. Wonder if the 225x70x15s on the front of the Judge would
be better. One thing at a time.
