Bob's list is very close to what I was thinking as well. Given the
budget of $2000 - $2500, you're really not going to get much past a
high quality rebuild - there just isn't enough volume in the market for
a Corvair equivalent of the small block crate engines. However, a good
rebuild with the noted mods will result in a very nice engine. I'd
probably consider using a slightly hotter cam than the 95 cam
(something around 260 degrees advertised), since the 140 typically
likes to rev higher than 5k. I'd think of 3500 - 5500 as the sweet
spot in the rev range for a nice street 140. You may wish to look over
some of the pages on my web site for more info, and you should also
consider picking up a couple of the available books out there.
