<VV> Differential Carrier Leak

A previous owner of our 65 Corvair 4 speed evidentially used a longer bolt than was speced to fasten to the rear strut rod bracket at the differential carrier. This has resulted in a leak coming through the bolt hole that was punctured through the carrier. We have tried at least four times to fix the resulting slow leak coming through the bolt or seaping from the bracket itself. We have used gasket sealer and most recently ARP thread sealer. This tread sealer did stop it from seaping from the bolt head itself, however the fluid is now finding a way out between the carrier and the bracket itself. We have tried to make sure that any transmission fluid was cleaned throughly off the hole threads, however that is difficult to do due to the bracket being in place against the carrier. Has anyone out there run across this problem and been able to fix this type of leak? We are at out wits end! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Andrea Hager
