Questions was, what were mechanical aspects of Yenko Stingers?
>From the Yenko Stinger Tech Manual-March 1967
Stage I 160 HP.
Stage II 190 HP Recommended for high-speed touring, rallying, or
dual-purpose race machine. Best seller. Chassis dyno tuned. Modified
pistons for high lift camshaft, turn cut-out carbs. Heads are 10.0 to 1. Fan
is modified, flywheel is reduced and strengthened and other durability is
added...horizontal oil control baffle, deep sump oil pan pickup, polished
crankshaft, hvy duty valve springs and retainers.
Stage III 220 HP. Same as Stage II plus higher cr and forged pistons, .040
over pistons. Cam is about .475 lift (at the valve).
Stage IV 230 HP SCCA engines and car prep for all-out performance in Class D
Production. Better breathing coupled with the higher CR. Hvy duty valve
guides recommended. Engine is Stage III w/ extensive polishing, porting,
relieving of the cyl head passages and high CFM carbs installed. Polished
rods-balanced. etc. Compression is raised, balanced and penetrant inspected.
Stage V 250 HP (Illegal for SCCA racing) Larger bore. Unclear but probably
still the Rochester carbs. Raced in Canada.
Posi was added, optional sintered metallic brakes, dual MC, power assist was
an option, optional adjustable brake bias valve, quick steering, Yenko
bucket seat (Jim Schardt has one in his car), automatic was available as an
option, and in 1967, maybe in '66-later '66 on an exchange basis, a close
ratio transmission.
Yenko experimented with both Webers and FI but did not produce a car for
sale with either. He did NOT offer a turbo version.
AFAIK.
