<VV> Ignitor II question

Hey guys,
I spent a little bit of time tinkering with the 69 today, between working  on 
the old lawn mower and the new one, and I discovered it has the Igniter II on 
 it, instead of the Igniter I... it also has a chrome coil on it, which I 
figure  the PO installed... the Igniter is hooked up straight to the coil, both 
wires...  is that OK on the "2"?
I think I'm going to need to remove the distributor that's in it and put in  
a "non-smogger" one...
Anyway, I was just wondering.
