We've got a friend here in Victoria that is looking to use a 'vair motor in
a dune buggy. Just what are the options, and the pieces required to make it
work. I know where we can get our hands on an Offy VW to 'vair flywheel,
what else is do we need?

Joel - I think the Clarks Otto Parts Catalog covers the changeover. Also the
How to HotRod Corvair engines speaks to it.Generally you have to decide, and
the layout of the car may dictate it to you, whether to run a regular or
reverse rotation motor. This is dependent on the differential set-up and the year
of the VW (Some VW diffs can be reversed, some cannot). The actual
adaptation usually involves an adapter plate (replacing the Corvair bellhousing) a
flywheel (like the one you mentioned) and a VW or Dune Buggy Clutch and a
Starter adapter of some type. If the motor is to be reversed, the cam and the
distributor drive gear must be replaced. - Seth
