Some buyers "accidentally" bid too high to reveal the reserve price or 
reveal the high bidder's actual max bid, and then retract it.

The trick is not to do it within the last day of the auction.

And, yes, some sellers are using a trick to beat eBay out of fees by 
charging 10 cents for a $100 item, and charging $100 shipping.
Like camera memory, where the shipping is about a buck.  I almost got stuck 
with a 2 GB chip for $1.29, but $59 shipping and mandatory insurance for 
another $25 !  Still a good price, and he only paid eBay about 35 cents 
instead of around $5 !

They do not have to pay fees on shipping, so it works out nicely, but I'm 
certain that eBay has its entire legal staff working on this !

With VV members using eBay on both sides of this issue, this is a relevant 
VV post, right ?
